Pimp MySpace Profile

Pimp MySpace Profile

Profile Pimp is a one stop profile customization site where you can pimp your profile, and they’ve taken on MySpace. Their MySpace profile customization comes in two flavors, Premade MySpace Layouts and MySpace Layout Generator. Their premade layouts are simple copy-and-paste layouts, so that should work for most of us. But if you want to have more control on how you customize your profile you can try their layout generator, where you can specify your own colors, background image, and so on.

So don’t blend with the crowd, check them out and make your profile stand out! :)

How Much Should A Blog Design Cost?

June 23rd, 2006

Web page design (and of course, blog design) pricing is a controversy these days. You’ll find a full range of spectrum on initial quoting, from ridiculously cheap $50 designs to ridiculously expensive professional $250 an hour design services. The question is what and who to choose to take on your project, and what are the standards?

To answer this question The Blog Studio elaborated on Chris Pearson’s original post on the matter.

Pricing is a hot topic in web design, especially at the small to medium end of the spectrum that most designers and clients occupy. At issue is the fact that there are no standards: no standard industry rate, no standard industry process. No standard industry anything.

Shopping for a designer must be incredibly frustrating. Asking “how much to design my blog” will return quotes ranging from the insanely low to the absurdly high. Why? There are a number of reasons, a few of which I’ll review here.

First, we’ve got to separate providers of web sites into three groups: professional design/develop agencies, professional design/develop freelancers, and amateurs. Generally speaking, agencies will charge more per hour than freelancers, and freelancers more than amateurs.

There’s a lot of truth to what they have to say (follow the link above to read the entire article) but we’re sticking to our own standard despite the controversy, which we believe reflect our quality of services while saving our clients from burning holes in their pockets.

At the end of the day it’s your decision who you want to hire, so a little research and shopping around never hurts! :)

While blogging gets more and more popular so is the need of having a custom template (theme) for your blog to stand out from the crowd. Well Gecko and Fly decided to port some of the best WordPress themes into Blogger templates, and we gotta give it to them cuz some of them are just spanking cool.

Genius MySpace Layout That Violated MySpace Policy

May 15th, 2006

On a closer look at Mike Davidson’s attempt to dissect MySpace it turns out there was another genius behind the idea that first inspired Mike himself.

The name is Keegan Jones and his MySpace layout hack was much cleaner. So clean that it contained no ads and got himself kicked out of MySpace. LOL. You can still see his awesome pink profile here.

Well he’s out of the game now but there’s an instruction residue on his blog on how he turned his MySpace layout into the policy violating design that is his custom profile.

You can use his hack but do it at your own risk. Stay tuned for more custom MySpace layout news and we’ll also start making our own MySpace layouts for you to use in the coming weeks.

Dissecting MySpace

May 14th, 2006

mikes-myspace-profile.jpg

As promised we started exploring the web for the coolest MySpace layouts. We searched and searched and after a few long hours we gave up. We didn’t find anything decent enough (in our definition) to be featured on our MySpace Layouts Page.

Then we found Mike Davidson and apparently he wasn’t happy with what’s available out there either. So he went on an experiment and dissected MySpace, and we gotta admit it’s probably the best and cleanest MySpace layout we’ve ever laid eyes on.

Mike is a nice guy too. Not only did he transform his MySpace user profile into an award winning design, he also explained how to do it step-by-step.

Now he has about 95 billion friends on MySpace (LOL) and about 200+ comments on his MySpace hack tutorial page.

We promise we’ll keep searching, but we’ll also pick up where Mike left off and experiment on creating our own MySpace layouts for you to use! :)

Create Rounded Corners with CSS

May 1st, 2006

Spiffy Corners - Create Rounded Corners with CSS

For centuries designers have searched for a solution to create anti-aliased rounded corners with CSS. Before it was only possible with an image editting software like Adobe Photoshop, but this recent breakthrough changed the old-style way of making rounded corners. Spiffy Corners is a CSS tool created by Greg Johnson. It helps you create rounded corners with your own colors (for whatever reason you have for it) and generates the CSS for you to copy-and-paste to your design.
